Seeing this, she raised her knees and shoulders up out of the water which allowed the bird to nest and lay eggs. After a while the bird laid seven eggs, and these eggs included six gold eggs and one iron egg. As the bird laid on her eggs and incubated them, Ilmatar’s knees began to become too hot for her to endure and she responded by moving her entire leg. The bottom parts of the eggshells became the land, the sky was formed from the top of the eggshells, the egg whites became the moon and stars, and finally the egg yolk became the sun. As he noticed this he prayed again and was sent to the earth to plant seeds and fill the land with an abundance of plants and wildlife (Finnish

In William Paden’s chapter entitled “Myth”, from Religious Worlds: The Comparative Study of Religion, Paden explores the role of myth in relation to religion, and how the two create a reality that humans exist and partake in. Paden’s definition of myth indicates that myth is used as a way to explain what is difficult to understand and makes sense of the world by forming narratives. These narratives become integral parts of a culture and create a reality that gives truth to the myths told. The ancient Mesopotamian creation story, Enuma Elish, is one such myth describing the origins of the universe and mankind.…

Writers do this through composing eccentric stories about creation, usually with a moral lesson learned, that inspires the reader to believe. For example, my myth focuses on the creation of dreams.
