One of the most important types of false advertising is misleading illustrations. These are ways in which advertisers deceive the customers to buy the product by making it appear differently from what it really is. This includes information on the packaging that is not accurate, just as a component or ingredient that is not found in the product. The pictures and images which are supposed to realistically represent the product are, on the other hand, misleading because they show the product in a better way than it is in reality.
Misleading illustrations can be achieved by photo manipulation techniques which aim at enhancing the pictures and making them look more colorful. Examples of specific items that can be manipulated through misleading illustrations: foods, such as vegetables, fruits, hamburgers, cosmetic and makeup products. For example, you see a picture of a delicious and big hamburger with generous filling, but when you go buy it from the restaurant, the size is smaller and there is less filling than in the picture.
