Illuminated manuscripts are pieces of art, usually with hints of gold and silver and other bright colors to make the new look illuminated and beautiful. There are many ways that illuminated manuscripts were found in the Middle Ages. For example manuscripts could be found in something as simple as borders on pages and a picture in an article. They also could be found in very large and detailed art such as a historical initial or even wall sized art. All of these ways and more were used during the Middle Ages.

Many people were needed to be able to create and craft these gorgeous pieces of art. Some incredibly important people who created these pieces of art were medieval monks, painters and sculptors. Sculptors were known as craftsmen. But in fact all of these other artists

There are many different ways that these art pieces were shown. The illuminated manuscripts had many different symbols and meanings, depending on the type of manuscript and the artist who it was created by. For example, if you wanted an illuminated manuscript that was a historical initial to represent an important person or meaning meant to be remembered by many, the artist would individually create something to respire sent the importance. A majority of the manuscripts created were made for religious purposes and they were made large enough so that the church could hang them up for people to pray to. In addition, there were also many other purposes or reasons that they were used. Such as, in a book if there was an important article where a picture was needed there was usually an illuminated show of art to represent what was happening.
