Susan drove for a total of five hours and ended up in the hospital. Caspar was taken in and treated, and was told that he had to stay in the hospital to prevent the infection from getting worse and spreading throughout. Susan left the hospital, leaving Caspar there. After several days, Susan has still not came back or called her husband which was the other owner of the house. Ruby was also expecting Susan’s call to inform her that both Caspar and Susan were both alright. Since there was no news from the both of them, Ruby got worried. Susan’s husband was also really worried and had regret letting Susan take Caspar to the hospital. Ruby wanted to go back to the house of the party to check if Susan or Caspar were there, but couldn’t because it was still raining. All she could do was stay in her house. Her stepfather locked up Ruby in a closet to make sure she doesn’t infect her baby brother, mother, and her stepfather since Ruby could have possibly been out in the rain.
Opinion of the book so far: Now that it has reached one of the big conflicts of the book, this book gets even more interesting than ever. It makes me even more curious to read what happens next and makes me want to read even more. I hope the author, Virginia Bergin, creates a sequel for this books. If there is a sequel, I would read it for

In “Blow UP” by Sebastian Junger, he states “The fire blew up a little ridge below me, Haugh said later, “People were yelling in their radios, RUN, RUN, RUN!” (Junger p.510) Nature has its way of attacking itself that leaves the rest of us, running for safety. In this story people are affected by lightning striking a forest on a mountain. Another example of nature working against itself is when the wind blew the fire in a way that caused it to spread.…

    Satire In Brave New World

Samuel L. Jackson once said, “We’ve come a long way in our thinking, but also in our moral decay.” This quote holds true today as society stays rapidly changing and people become more and more desensitized to the horrors of the world. The line between right and wrong fades and turns to a larger gray area, and many things that happen in society today make us question how we, as a collective people, ended up where we are and how we acquired the customs we have today. Aldous Huxley, in his novel Brave New World, uses a great deal of satire and exaggeration to express his concerns for the society he was born into and bring attention to the problems of moral decay, drug dependency, and brainwashing, among other things, in the world.…

Oscar Wilde once said, "Life imitates art far more than art imitates life." His musing crossed my mind when I read the first book in J. E. Plemons Last Light Falling series, The Covenant. Since I read the Covenant I’ve watched news story after news story unfold on the TV: violence, mass killings, hateful words spewing out of people’s mouths, people believing they are superior for one reason or another over others, no respect for humanity and life, and I’ll admit I am unnerved by what I see happening, especially in the U.S. Just this week in my brother’s community a fireman was deliberately run over and killed while he was collecting money as part of his departments annual “fill the boot” campaign for Muscular Dystrophy. I see all this and more around me and think, yes, the…
