Some would think that I’m ashamed of my life, but I’m not. Do I regret my mistakes? Of course. I would do anything to take back what I did when I lost Maria. She was the best thing that ever happened to me. I never understood why she left me. I mean, sure I robbed 15 banks and 50% of my money was robbed, but that never seemed to bother her. I guess it did. All I know is I’m alone in this huge world living in a junk town in Cleveland. Although getting passed the border without a passport was easier than I thought it would. It was hard don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t impossible. As I look back to when I moved to America illegally all I see is Maria and her beautiful face. It was 1995 and afternoon the day I actually crossed the border. …show more content…
Working on buildings and fixing roads isn’t so bad after you get over the fact that I only make $15 an hour and I have to wake up early every morning. After my normal morning routine, I walked down to the apartment lobby to check my mailbox and I found a white envelope with my name on it. It was labeled by the “Rental Agreement”. The envelope didn’t make any sense to me until I opened and realized it was an eviction from the landlord. I had tons of these laying all over my apartment and it never occurred to me until now that I wasn’t paying my bill. Anyway the eviction slip said that I was $2500 in debt. I had only $500 saved up because all the rest of my money was used. All of the $2500 is due by Friday so that means I only have 3 days. Just as I was leaving and I started walking to work I noticed a shop that was getting tons of business and they had to have the money I needed and that’s exactly what I …show more content…
As I started walking towards the lot I could smell dirt and what also smelled like vegetables. It was everyone in the community and they all brought supplies for gardening. Everyone except for the little Asian lady. I asked around to get more information about her and apparently her name is Sae Young. She is a nice lady from Korea, which explains her accent, and she ran that dry cleaning shop. Anyway, the garden was filled with all sorts of different foods based on people’s culture. For example the Mexican families brought in corn for tortillas and the Asians planted rice. I decided I would plant jalapenos because that’s what I know how to plant. In Mexico I gardened a lot and I grew jalapenos, corn and all sorts of

Escaping Injustice You are on a deserted island with no escape, you feel like no one is on your side, you want change to happen, but so far all your effort to make it happen has drained out of you, so do you run or do you face the problem? Our nation has had so many immigration problems lately that these problems are getting out of control like as if it were cancer spreading throughout your body. The issue of immigration had been postponed for many decades now until the DREAM Act was passed in 2012 by the U.S. government. It is quite interesting to me that alien students don’t have the right to pursue an education if it was not for the ratification of the DREAM Act. So how are immigrants supposed achieve an education?…

Find a Place to Sleep. One of the most challenging obstacles to homelessness is finding a safe location to spend the night. It can be extremely difficult due to the fact that people can hijack you or steal your valuables when you’re out in the open. I recommend that if you own a car, sleep in it in a safe parking lot that’s not completely deserted. Or simply sleep during the day and be awake at night for your own safety.…

Would you be angry if you lost millions of dollars every year because people don’t pay their taxes? Well that’s how the government feels about illegal immigrants when they cross the U.S. and Mexico border. Illegal immigrants are crossing the border and are getting jobs in the United States, without any documents. American citizens are paying more taxes and that money goes to places like churches and charities that are protecting illegal immigrants so they can stay and get some money. A wall across the U.S. and Mexico border will protect American jobs and reduce crime because, jobs are being taken, illegal immigrants are not paying taxes on their jobs, and many criminals will not be able to smuggle items across the border.…

The debate over the rights of immigrants or refugees remains unresolved and countries seem to be increasingly hostile towards these groups of individuals. Though the issue of immigration is often debated with emphasis purely on the economic effects of immigration, I believe that often the social side of immigration is forgotten. When we debate legislation, we speak about the jobs that immigrants might take, but we never speak about the way in which an immigrant’s family unit is affected by the harsh laws against immigration. This issue is of particular importance to me because I have seen, as well as read about, the effects of the harsh immigration laws on families and I hope that in the future no family will have to go through the hardships unnecessarily created by unfair immigration laws. When I was a child, my family hired a part time nanny to help take care of my…
