Illegal Immigration Narrative

My hearts beat louder and faster the further away we got from Santa Maria. Silence was the only noise that came. Besides the van's engine and graveling ground. In the mirror, I saw Roberto. A blank expression. I was hoping to seek comfort from, but instead all little hope I had left just evaporated. Trying to keep my eyes from leaking, not letting the immigration officer see me cry I face toward the window. Fields and fields full of illegal people doing hard labor. I will never see Papa, Mama, Torito, Trampita, Ruben and Rorra again.

Hours have passed or that's at least what it felt like. Already we have passed dozens of rest signs, but the immigration officer never stopped. Not until now at least. " Don't you even think of escaping you low, filthy fiends because you can't," and with that he slammed the door shut and vacated.

He already gave up on our freedom. In the end, I suppose it wasn't really ever freedom. Everyday waking up in the early morning hoping that the Migra won't catch you. A life of fear that eats every good thing that comes your way. Like a disease that eats your insides until you are nothing.

We were back on the road when the officer exited the main road into a dirt road. A million thoughts spun in my head all at once. Were are we going? Are we going to the immigration office? Is it just a short cut? Are they going to make a personal stop? Is the officer going to take us to the border? Where is he going? Where is he taking us? Panic started to rise in me. Looking at the back to see Roberto to see how he is handling this just see his ghostly face. I don't even recognize my own brother any more. We should of tried to escape while we had the chance.

Every passing minute my heart raced. My heart nearly jumped out of my chest when the Migra vehicle stopped at another school. Another kid separated from their family. Just like me and Roberto. At least I won't be alone since I lost Roberto

In his stories, “The Objects” and “The Last Ones” Herrera writes about crossing the border, social hierarchy, and being used by others. Herrera’s story, “The Objects,” is about an office building, and at night its workers turn into inhuman animals and objects. The main characters in this story are the narrator and Rafa.…

Because the night was boring, I was further disappointed that Officer Maydane ended the ride-along earlier than it was supposed to. I was actually hoping to get a sense of what “boring” actually feels like through the perspective of a police officer. Additionally, the only suspenseful event that happened throughout the night was the suspicious person call that turned out to be a drunken individual with a warrant out on him since 2013. Other than this service call, the night is best summarized as a night where the conversations Officer Maydane and I had were the highlights of the night rather than the service calls or traffic stops. While the conversations were the highlights of the night, I am thankful that I had the opportunity to “poke” the brain of a four-year veteran of the force, see his perspective, which then helps me mentally prepare for my own application process in the future.…

Illegal immigration has spread all over the world uncontrollably and rapidly. I’m a victim who has survived from the last sinking boat in Egypt. People, nowadays, have nothing to talk about except illegal immegrants, and who is the one who is mistaken in these situations. As a victim, I’m going to tell you who’s the mistaken one ,and who’s the one responsible for all of the loses. It all started four months ago when a group very poor people , I am one of them , went to a smuggler to make a deal with him to travel to Italy with a boat.…

Whether their legal or illegal, there are many issues surrounding immigrants, immigrants often take jobs from American citizens, because employers know they can pay immigrants less money for the same amount of labor and don’t have to offer them any type of benefits, whether is health, vision or automotive. In my opinion illegal immigrants cutting down on the amount of illegal immigrants entering the United States will reduce serious crimes committed by illegal immigrants. There is a great deal of things that cause me to not see I to eye with President Donald Trump, but his consistent demand for Congress to be more active in getting illegal immigrants out of the United States is one issue I can agree with Trump on. My only objective is the…

For my father, what I witnessed with my own eyes on my first trip to Vietnam provided a sense of normalcy for him. Growing up in an economically challenged, underprivileged country means bearing witness to the effect and impacts of poverty on a daily basis. This in turn over time allowed him to become desensitized towards the poor. This is one of many disconnects between my father and I. My father’s immigration story is something I treasure greatly because it is a window into better understanding the struggles my father endured and the sacrifices he made so that I could be where I am today.…
