Earlier this year, lawmakers and the White House struggled to reach a bipartisan immigration agreement. Numerous immigration proposals have failed to get at least 60 votes required to pass the senate in February. Trump championed a GOP plan that did not crevice 50 votes. David Popp a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell states that The Senate Republicans have opposed ending the legislative filibuster. This means that any immigration bill will need more Democratic support. Both the Republican and Democratic Party want an immigration policy win to promote their voters ahead of the November midterm elections. Various bipartisan lawmakers are seeking prompt resolutions for immigrants protected by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA). President Trump attempted to end the Obama-era DACA program, due to court rulings it is currently in place. Since the death of Ronald da Silva, his mother Agnes Gibboney has been pushing for immigration reform. On March 30, 2007 in Virginia Beach, Tessa Tranchant and her friend, Ali Kunhardt were killed by an Illegal immigrant. Alfredo Ramos rear-ended their car while intoxicated and speeding, Ramos had prior convictions, but due to Virginia Beach sanctuary policies, Ramos was never detained. Ramos was charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to 40 years in prison. An Illegal immigrant from Russia by the name of Igor Zubko killed Shayley on July 24, 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona. 10 days before her murder Shayley had obtained an order of protection from Zubko. Zubko entered her home and fatally shot her, although Zubko entered the U.S legally, he had overstayed his Visa and remained in the U.S illegally, Zubko is now facing first-degree murder
