Furthermore, Illegal immigrants are allowed and encouraged to apply for social assistance. Since they have no assets in the US necessarily they are prime candidates and likely to receive aide over a US citizen in need. According to a study done by Camarota 62% of illegal households are using welfare. That is double the amount of a US citizen which only have 30% of households using welfare (“Welfare Used”). Illegal immigrants are given opportunities through social programs offered in the United States that most legal struggling families could only dream about. For example, they are able to receive more assistance while attending school and even given scholarships to attend college for having different backgrounds and/or being a first generation
