Many Americans equate illegal immigrants with a higher incidence of crime. Their presence in the United States is based on their illegally entering the country which is a crime itself. Many illegal immigrants end up incarcerated as a result of criminal activity. Drug smuggling and alien smuggling are two of the highest crime rates committed by illegal immigrants. Illegals end up doing criminal activity to pay off debts or to help their family and friends. They steal because they are not finically stable and they have to survive somehow. In Arizona there was a linkage between illegal alien and incidence of crimes. Arizona had the highest rate of illegal aliens in the country and also ranked at the top for crime incidences.
