Immigrants, namely Hispanics, are taking jobs away from middle-class/lower-class American citizens. They offer more hours, harder work, all for lower wage therefore making it more ethical and efficient for business owners to hire them; despite their citizenship situation. There are many proven facts and statistics showing the downfall of employment of U.S. citizen’s. According to the article “Does Illegal Immigration Harm Working Americans?” by David Frum, “…1.5 million fewer native-born Americans are working than in November 2007, the peak of the prior economic cycle… There are 2 million more immigrants – legal and illegal – working in the United States today than in November 2007” (Frum 1). Some of the main jobs immigrants can claim to avoid detection from the INS are Agricultural induced. For example some of the jobs include field work, maid service, gardening, babysitting, the dairy and farming industry, and much more. The rate of working men is the lowest it has ever been and continues to decline due to illegals that are coming in and taking jobs. There are other people who should be given the jobs, people that are born in the states, pay taxes, and need to obtain a sustainable income in order to pay for the well-being of their families, but instead they are given to desperate illegal immigrants. Obviously, these laws are not always followed or enforced strictly. There is a law stating that when an illegal immigrant is discovered here in the U.S., that they are to be taken to prison or deported back to their country immediately. Once an illegal is found and deported, they are banned from reentering into the United States. There are many ways immigrants can become legal here in the United States. The first step would be to apply for a green card and eventually become a citizen. After they have been approved, they can also have their family apply to become approved to get green cards and citizenship as opposed to risking their lives and freedom by avoiding paperwork. Green cards are permits that allows citizens of other countries to legally work and live in the United States permanently. Many ponder the motivation behind these wrong doings and illegal activity by millions of criminals despite the severe consequences. That question remains unanswered as there is such a variety of responses that are either unjustified or unclear. No matter what the time period or financial standings, immigrants will always want to migrate into America. They offer some of the best jobs, benefits, educational schooling, food stamps traditions, and so much more.
