Many people like having pets in their homes. Pets are normally wonderful creatures. Most pet owners normally treasure their pets. You will realize that most pets normally provide companionship to their owners. Some of these pets include cats, dogs and so on. However, some people have opted to keep iguanas as pets. Iguanas are well known and are generally well-liked among the human population. However, unless you are a lizard lover or basically an iguana lover, there are some things you may not know about this interesting creatures. The following are five facts about iguanas that you should know:
1. Iguanas are herbivores.
You will realize that iguanas are normally herbivores. This means that they do not eat meat but rather plants. Some researchers say that iguanas are omnivores. Iguanas should not eat animal products because their metabolism is

Iguanas are trainable.
Some people normally think that iguanas are stupid creatures. You will be surprised to realize that iguanas are just as smart as a dog or even cat. An iguana can actually be taught how to do things just like human beings. Some people have trained their iguanas to do many tricks. If lost, iguanas can actually find their way home. As a trainer, you just need to take time and teach them new tricks.
3. Iguanas do grow.
Some people normally opt to buy young iguanas and keep them as pets. However, you will realize that these pets normally grow and cannot fit in the same cage for many years. Some iguanas have actually grown to six feet long. This actually happens if the iguana has a loving habitat and environment that will allow the iguana to grow.
4. Iguanas are arboreal.
Remember that iguanas in the wild normally spend most of their time on trees. If you want to stimulate the growth of the iguana, you should place some type of climbing material in the iguana’s home. Something as simple as a post can actually make your iguana feel like they are back in the wild, perched on a tree.
