Donald Trump’s slogan may be “Make America Great Again” but that will never be reality with him as president. According to polls from Huffington Post on Apr. 3, 45 percent of Republicans favor Trump. With blatant statements for everything ranging from women to war, the real estate tycoon dominates over the presidential election despite being the most unqualified candidate due to his political career, or lack thereof. Election day is approaching and regardless of the outcome, it will definitely become a historic event. Timothy Egan (2016) shares his opinion towards Donald Trump in his Op-Ed article, “The Immigrants Turned Away.” He is certainly not a Trump supporter and uses the time remaining, before Election Day, to warn U.S citizens about Trump’s plans concerning immigration. Pathos is applied the most throughout Egan’s argument because he prefers to connect with his audience on a personal level. Ethos and logos appear in the argument to provide evidence and strengthen his writing.…

Twitter communications tend to replicate existing communications channels in that they are one-way static monologues delivered by the campaign (Williamson, Parolin, 2012). But because their brevity denies protracted dialogue (Godnov, Redek, 2014) and effective use relies on crafting a “bite” that can be “re-tweeted” they serve as a tool that allows campaigns to deflect discussion of the issues and focus on a personality-based campaign…

The 2016 Presidential Election Campaign in the United States was notably distinct, with a woman, a democratic socialist, and a billionaire businessman making waves within their parties. With that, social media played an important role in the transmission of information and candidates’ core messages. Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump used social media to their advantage, though very differently. This essay argues that the importance of social media in order to transmit political messages is becoming increasingly important, and that Bernie Sanders was able to more effectively utilize social media and to communicate his campaign’s messages through social media than Donald Trump during the primary campaign.…

“There’s More to Life Than Being Happy” is a journal article that was written by Emily Esfahani Smith. It was published on January 9, 2013. Its purpose is simply to explain to the audience that, ‘It is the very pursuit of happiness that thwarts happiness’ (Smith 2013). I very much enjoyed this journal article because after reading it I felt that I had actually connected to it. For example, a big topic that she focused on while writing this article, was that being happy dealt with “taking”, while living a meaningful life, dealt with “giving” (Smith 2013).…
