Even though I was not a student at the school, everyone treated me as if I was one, as if I wasn't there for only one day. Another reason as to why I applied to Saint Ignatius would have to be the technology and buildings. The true definition of the term 'naysayer' is a person who habitually expresses negative or pessimistic views. This is the way that Caroline Bird looks at college in her essay titled "College is Waste of Time and Money". In this article Bird is very strong willed when stating her opinion about college. She tells her readers that the real reason young adults go to college is because "College is a pleasant place to be; because it's the only way they can get parents or taxpayers to support them without working at a job they don't like; because mother wanted them to go, or some other reason entirely irrelevant to the course of studies for which college is supposedly organized" (247). Bird explains to her readers in a very pessimistic way that going to college to get an education has become very uncommon.…

In an article published in May of 1897, The Roanoke Times described the intimate relationship shared between two college women as a “smash” or “crush.” The article depicted these “smashes” as completely typical and mentioned nothing deviant about the relationships, even characterizing them as, “one girl, generally an underclassman, and usually a freshman, that becomes much attached to another girl, ordinarily an upper-class girl. The young girl is ‘crushed’ and the other, sends her flowers and tries in various ways to give expression to her admiration.” Historian Lillian Faderman defines this era as the “last breath of innocence” for female-female relationships.…

I chose to attend Wor-Wic Community College because of the support system that Wor-Wic has to offer. I applied to the school and attended it while I was injured with a traumatic knee injury and the staff really proved to me that they cared. I had surgery the first week of classes,so I emailed my teacher and they were all understanding and extremely helpful in accommodating to my needs. The late computer lab hours really helped me to be able to get my school work done after my night classes ended. Everywhere that I go I advocate for Wor-Wic because it is truly more than an institution, it is like another family to me.…

I have always enjoyed mathematics and physics since I could remember, It was after my first interview with an admission counselor that I fell in love with Harvey Mudd College, as guided by an unknown force and led by my intuition. After a long time of reflecting and school research, I came up with three reasons. First of all, Harvey Mudd is exceptionally good in mathematics, which is my major interest. I consider mathematics as one of my lifelong pursuits because it always excites me and brings me big surprises.…

The starting points of Fordham University can be followed to 1839 when John Hughes, the Bishop of New York, purchased 100 sections of land at Rose Hill in the Fordham area of what was then Westchester County for $29,750. Notwithstanding, he said, "I had not, when I bought the site of this new college...so much as a penny to begin the installment for it." After a nine-month crusade the most cash he could raise privately was $10,000, thus he went to Europe on an asking trek to get the assets that he couldn't raise at home. The budgetary troubles that John Hughes confronted in beginning St. John's College are characteristic of the destitution of the New York Catholic group in 1841.…

New York exists on bedrock that tells a tale of millions of years ago, going as far back as the late Mesoproterozoic (1.6 to 1 billion years ago). The layers that make up this bedrock show the conditions of the earth’s surface through many different orogenies, which are times of high grade metamorphism and where plate tectonics makes its biggest changes. The Fordham gneiss was formed a billion years ago (oldest) during the Grenville orogeny (Precambrian) which featured sediment deposits and volcanic activity, which marked the creation of the supercontinent Rodinia (Keary, 2009). Following the Grenville orogeny there was a period of erosion which allowed for a smooth surface for more deposition.…
