The initial greatness of the Igbo society was far more noticeable compared to the Scandinavian tribes greatness. The Igbo people ( mostly the men) celebrated a warrior-like society that succeed in being the biggest tribe and to have the best trained warriors in their region. Their culture involved a lot of social titles and being honored as a warrior. In the book, there are many examples and evidence that shows the Igbo peoples’ celebration and honors for a warrior especially in this quote; “in Umuofia’s latest war he was the first to bring home a human head” (chapter 2: page 23). This quote shows the honor and celebration of the igbo peoples’ combat and how they express that honor and celebration by bringing back trophies from battle such as the head.
