“Jehovah ebuliwo m elu elu higher higher, ebuliwo m elu elu higher higher” are the lyrics to one of my favorite Igbo Christian gospels my family sings during prayer. I have always enjoyed singing the song and shouting “higher, higher” at the top of my lungs with my sisters and brother. In English, the lyrics mean “God has lifted me up higher” and I have learned to not only recognize that, but to be grateful for it as well.
I am thankful to have been exposed to faith at an early age and I am also thankful for how it has impacted and influenced the women I am today.
