As portrayed in the documentary Park Avenue: Money, Power and the American Dream, the wealthy population are financially supporting politicians and in return for their generous contributions, the politicians are rigging the system in their favor. This corruption is causing for the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer. The wealthy are donating their “hard earned” money to simply make more money, while the poor population suffers to simply stay alive. According to the New York Times, “just 158 families provided nearly half of the early money for efforts to capture the White House”. These 158 are some of the wealthiest people in the world, and their goal for “capturing the white house” is to become richer so they can prove that they worked hard and accomplished the American Dream, while the poor people struggling to stay alive failed at the American Dream because they simply didn’t work hard. The truth to the matter is, the majority of these wealthy supporters were already destined for their wealthy lifestyle because they have the opportunity to buy their success through prestigious educations, safe neighborhoods, and connections to financially rewarding careers. Many would say that this is not fair, and they are right, this corruption surrounding the White House is unfair and needs to change, so that America can return to the basis of hard work pays off, rather than money can pay anyone
