Having all your aspects of your daily life control by a central faceless government seem like an easy way to avoid conflict. Do all people want to be told what to do and be stuck in an endless spiral of a broken system? That is why I side with the Patriot. The freedom to be yourself and govern yourself without the fear of silver spoon king’s army forcing the people with taxes and laws from thousands of miles away. Is it the best way to live one life under the watch of faraway old government that you once left to seek new land and new opportunity? Telling you what to pay and how much. We all need a sense of control, but when you give up your small amount of control to other you become a puppet or husk of your former self. The patriot fought to gain their freedom from the government that had fail them over in England and set sail to find new jobs, goals , and promised of better life in the new world. The tension between the British and colonist was at an all-time with the recent stamp act, which was forcing taxes on the people for any piece paper used. The Sons of Liberty have had enough of big brother always pushing them around. The colonist’s held an anti -British boycott of all goods from Britain. Which upset many of the wealthy merchants and asked for the army to step in and put a stop to the boycott so they can line their pocket with coin again.
