100 On The Street Analysis

Improved Essays
If you found $100 on the street, what would you do with it? If I found $100 just sitting on the street, the first thing I 'd do is probably look around for people searching for something, ask around maybe. However, if there was no one around, I 'd do what most people would do and pocket it. One hundred dollars isn 't a ridiculously large amount of money, (maybe to a teenager like me with nothing of necessity to pay for on a regular basis) but I 'd still save it. Ever since I was a kid, I was always the one out of my friends or my close family members my age to save money rather than spending it. Whenever I go out places I try my hardest to spend as little of my own money as possible. Many people my age are exactly the opposite, and just blow …show more content…
I believe the most self-evident thing about me is my sense of humor. I feel that I have a very particular sense of humor. I feel like at this point in my life, I have quite a proclivity for making jokes and humorous comments in everyday conversation. A few years ago, I remember my dad telling me about how he would talk to his friends about my brother and I. He said that I was “funny, and not just thirteen year old girl funny, like actually funny”. I 'm not the kind of person that can never be serious, but I 'd much rather have a light, funny conversation over a depressing one (even though I 'm sure the same goes for most people.) If I were to die, I believe the one thing my immediate family members and friends would remember is my humor because it 's a thing that appears in just about every conversation I have. Never on purpose, when people are talking, these thoughts just come to my head quickly, sometimes a bit too late, or a bit more quick-witted than the person I 'm speaking with. The biggest downside to having quick, witty humor is when a joke just barely goes over someone 's head and they only get part of it. Even though sometimes my humor is a bit more advanced, I 'm sure people would still reminisce about

It taught me to learn how to save with the tight budget I have between my personal needs and college.…

In every community, there is a set of rules to follow, which is found in the code of the street. The Code of the Street, according to the book, “Code of the Street: Decency, Violence, and the Moral Life of the Inner City” by Elijah Anderson, explains more what the code of the street is and why people do things a certain way by saying, “This is because the street culture has evolved a “code of the street” which amounts to a set of informal rules governing interpersonal public behavior. (pg.33).” While the Code of the Street can be seen as a list of rules, it is a lifestyle and a set example of how to do things. One part of the Code of the street is no snitching.…

When I think of my Italian heritage, the first place that comes to mind is the Ninth Street Italian Market in Philadelphia. I think of all the different family owned butcher shops, bakeries, specialty cheese shops, restaurants and more that have been in business longer than I have been alive. At one time, this outdoor market was an urban enclave in which mainly Italian and Jewish immigrants worked, lived and raised their families. Today, while this outdoor market has become diversified with people and businesses of many different ethnic backgrounds, the sense of pride remains just the same. In this paper I will talk about the history and location of the Italian Market, as well as the area as an urban enclave.…
