If Optimism Were a Person She 'd Have Green Eyes

If optimism were a person she 'd have piercing green eyes, green like the buds that bring the hope of a beautiful spring after a cold, cold winter. She would stand the perfect height and her dark brown hair would flow just past her shoulders. She 'd have a slight obsession with cats and her name would be Kristina. I would be fortunate enough to call her my friend. Luckily this person does exist, she may not be optimism but being optimistic is one of her greatest qualities. Kristina is constantly looking and finding the good in everyone. She is the voice of reason that I know I can trust and she gives the greatest advice when I am having doubts or am having trouble making my own decisions. With her constant inspiration, I aspire to be a better person because of her. Kristina changed my life. How proud I would have been to wear that cap and gown. I could hear the cheering of my parents and siblings as I pictured myself walking down the aisle to receive my diploma. I felt like a failure. I wasn 't smart. I was a part-time waitress and I would never be anything more. That 's when I got a text from Kristina. She had asked me how school was going and the tears began to stream down my face. All of my frustration, anger, and sadness, I laid it all on her, my blanket of shame, and in that moment she carried it for me. I explained to her how hard I had studied for my Ethics test, all the days I took off work, the money I could have made, to study for this test that I had just received a D on. She took all my words in, she never interrupted, and like a computer, she processed my information, analyzed it, and spit out the perfect

One of the most prevalent desires in a person's life is to find what he or she is meant to fulfill in his or her lifetime. Especially for adolescents, finding where one stands in a world full of chaos is a daunting struggle and a strenuous journey. In The Cather in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger, Holden is a troubled boy who is struggling to find himself and his place in the world. His journey to achieving this goal makes The Cather in the Rye an overall optimistic book because teenagers can relate to Holden's perplexed psychological state of being stuck in a place between childhood and adulthood, it inspires the reader to strive for more in his or her lifetime, and it ends on a happy note. When surrounded by an environment that is constantly changing and growing for better or for worse, it isn't difficult for adolescents to get lost and caught up in the confusing transition between the two worlds of adulthood and childhood.…
