The arguments that were put against the war from the Americans, was that they believed that the idea of taking such a dispute into a full-on war was unconstitutional. Such a problem could have easily been resolved if it was to have been taken as a diplomatic issue rather than as what Mexico saw this action. Mexico believed that the U.S. was taking away their lands, thus resulting in war due to the fact that they had to protect their lands. If we were looking at this in means of the U.S. only trying to expand their territories in a way to welcome new people who were making their way the U.S., the war could be justified. If we were looking at this in an abolitionists perspective, it would obviously seem as thought the U.S. was expanding their lands only to add more slave states to the U.S. The U.S. justified their actions through the Manifest Destiny, the reason I believe that the war could be justified through this was because of the fact that the U.S. stayed true to themselves and took the actions that they believed in.
