Since I am not an education major and am interested in a different type of education than most of the class, I often find it hard to keep up as I am missing fundamental background knowledge and I don’t want all of this practice unpacking standards and creating learning targets to become “wasted” if I won’t even have standards. I was partially correct – you can get your masters in education and get your job that way (although I’m not sure if there’s anything else you need – certificates or something similar to prove you know your materials), or you can come in straight from the field with 3+ years of full time experience. Besides fulfilling professional development hours for license renewal, you only need to take additional classes if you come straight from the field. I am glad to learn that there are several options for me if I do decide to teach.
