If I Learned To Get An Easy Class

Improved Essays
Academically, I have always considered myself to be a driven, and scholarly person. In school I am determined to take the hardest classes to challenge myself, and scholarship is defined as, "Learning of a higher level". The challenging courses that I am provided with help me learn more than if I would take an easy class. I have always taken honors classes when I could, and I push myself to always do better than my best work. I once heard a teacher say, "a class should be taken to learn, not just to get an A". Students should not always focus on getting an A, so much as they should focus on what they are learning in that class. Throughout my high school years I have learned to adjust quickly to change, and to always offer my knowledge when others need it. At school I offer my assistence to anyone who needs it. In class, if someone asks me how to do something I work with them until they understand the concept. Even outside of class, I am willing to offer my help. If I do not understand something, I hope that someone can explain it to me, therefore I offer my help in the same way in return. …show more content…
Dominic for the second semester of Freshman year. Before transferring I was attending Timberland High School. Once I transferred, I had to adjust quickly to new teachers, friends, classes, and an entirely different grading scale. I succeeded in finishing Freshman year with a 3.85 GPA, and have since then brought it up to a 4.00 for Sophomore year. After transferring I made many friends, and grew close to many of the teachers. I made St. Dominic my high-school. That year I learned things that I will use years into the future. School has always been a number one priority for me. The more I learn, the more prepared I feel for my future. I hope that if I am accepted into the National Honors Society, I can improve even more in Scholarship, Service, and

Honors committee, As long as I can remember I have sought challenges in academics. Until only recently I didn't know why I pushed myself as hard as I have in school, but now I understand it is because I truly love learning. For me, discovering something new or unknown, teaching myself a new skill, or learning more about the world around me is one of the most gratifying things in my life. This is part of why I think I should be admitted into the honors program here at the University of Iowa. The National Honors Society defines what it means to serve the student body as well as the community. As a student athlete in the Sutton school system leadership, service, character and scholarship have impacted my very way of life. Having a persistent attitude is what makes a student shine and as a prospective candidate for NHS I will incorporate this quality into each of the four pillars improving the society as a whole. Three years ago I began the NHS application process though I had little experience in volunteering for the community and lacked the opportunity to develop myself as a leader this changed as my high school career went on. Through athletics and long hours of volunteering with the town's technology department has provided me with numerous opportunities as high school went on.…
