The poet goes further in advising us not to lose our temperament even when we are bring blamed for their faults. Loss of temper does not help us in solving difficult issues but intensifies the problem, and thus when we are cool, we can think wisely in times of difficulties thus arriving at a solution. Kipling emphasizes on having faith oneself though it is important to give heed to people's doubt of us to know what brings their suspicion and this ensures that one is not doing something wrong knowingly or unknowingly. Patience is also a key issue in this poem as well as being truthful to others and us. The poet as well talks about showing love and respect to other people. The poet warns the reader not to go our way for those in our company to feel comfortable thus a healthy competition. Self-confidence is more emphasized here with reader advised to have the courage to face disapproval and discrepancy, but it also goes against having self-confidence that does not give room for consideration of opposing ideas. The stanza here develops a paradox for the reader to both ignore doubt and make allowance for doubt.
