Iep Meeting Experience Analysis

Decent Essays
This week was a VERY eventful week with parent-teacher conferences, book fair, bowling field trip, science center field trip, two early dismissals, Bobcat Bodega, and two IEPs meetings. This week had very little teaching going on because of all of these things happening. We would start something but then had to go to one of these events. With all these events going on, I learned to go with the flow with things and to stay organize with all the different times.
Monday, we knocked out all the conferences and had an IEP meeting with one student. It was interesting to see the two different IEPs meetings because one set of parents had the perfect amount of involvement and the other parents my mentor teacher say they are too involve with their

This week was the best week I had all semester. It was a glorious week for me, to say the least. I was able to finish the written assignment, study hard for my quiz, and also be able to get an awesome grade for my quiz. I thoroughly enjoyed this week. First of all, for the reading assignment, I had to read section 8.1 called, "System of Linear Equations: Gausssian Elimination".…

This week was fun for me because I made the soccer team and we had a fun week of practices. We had much less homework this week than the previous week which was very fortunate because my brother and I had their grade’s curriculum nights so I was not getting home until eight thirty. There were three quizzes/tests this week which was a little rough but I think I got through them well. I thought that the Socratic seminar in LA was a little bit of a dud because…

I think the process of developing and reviewing and IEP is just as equally significant as the actual legal document due to the fact that development and the review of the IEP is stated in the legal document. The legal document of the IEP states and list the student’s accommodations, special education services, strengths, weakness, and the student’s goals. Mrs. Taylor needs to remember the development of the review of an IEP is highly important, and that her views and thoughts of her student’s goals and needs are listed in the legal document of the IEP, which is how her student will receive his/her special education services. I feel it is highly recommended that the student’s parents and guardians should be included in process of developing and reviewing their student’s IEP.…

The thing I improved the most on this week was learning how to play Chrononauts. At first we were put into groups to play this game and my team sat on the wings of the tables. For about the first 15 minutes I had no idea what this game was or how to play it. After I saw the other team's play after a few turns I started get what this game was about, but still I had many questions about what each card does or in what ways you could win. The second game we played my team was put in the center of the tables.…

This would lead to the next step in which the teacher would have the special education specialist talk with the parent about what action can take place. The special education specialist and the general education teacher can talk with the parent about setting up an IEP. While setting this up the parents would constantly be communicated with by the teacher and others a part of the IEP team. It is important that the parent knows constantly what is going on and what is being done. The third step would to make sure that the parent is told about the progress their child is making in the general classroom and possibly a special education classroom.…

I would say that meeting my goal of meeting new people has been gone really well, the people are really nice and are open to meeting new people it is great. And exploring the campus has been fun weather it is just walking around with friends or on a tour. The biggest challenge this week would have to be trying to find time for this online work and orientation at the same time. But the reason I that I think it was so hard was because I didn’t have the wifi for the campus for like 3 days of this week…

This IEP meeting was for a student, whom I will call Laura, for an annual IEP meeting. She is an ELL student, so the meeting started with us waiting for about 45 minutes for the translator. She was late due to another meeting, and the mother spoke no English, so we had to wait patiently. Once everyone was in attendance, we started with introductions. The people in attendance at the meeting were as follows: special education teacher, general education science teacher, mother, interpreter, school psychologist, assistant principle, and myself.…

Extended school year was an option I had heard discussed during IEP meetings in my fifteen years of experience, but today I was able to observe one of these classrooms in action first hand. The lesson I observed took place at a small group table with the teacher leading the lesson, a paraprofessional providing one on one support to one student, and a nurse supporting another student who is using a Tobii for communication. The teacher began the lesson by introducing a set of five sight words. The teacher then read the words aloud, gave a simple meaning, provided a sentence with the word, and the students traced the words with their fingers.…
