The party believes that those who utilize private health and the private education system should receive vouchers and tax breaks. In addition, they focus on the goodwill of the people, instead of a public system, which they see as a socialist agenda. However, Democrats want to mirror foreign nations by setting up a national health care system. They want to expand the federal control of education to control what is taught and the teaching standards. Furthermore, the Democrats wish to expand the Medicare system. In this issue, I am in the middle. I believe that there should be waivers for private insurance and schooling, but I believe that a national health care system, if run properly, can help close the social class gaps that have formed. In addition, I believe that the Republican fear of a socialist health care system is unsubstantiated because; the Veterans Administration clinics are considered one of the biggest socialist health care systems in the world. Since I believe that that defense spending should be increased, that foreign countries should play a bigger role in NATO, and that the income tax should not be changed, I side with the Republicans. However, I do not agree with the party’s ideology on abortion and social welfare because, it generalizes a complicated issues. Therefore, I am more towards the middle of the political spectrum. I believe that both sides have valid points and that the only way that the United States can continue to progress is through compromises. I believe that politicians should stop concerning themselves with their party expects, and focus on the needs of the people. However, no matter where I stand I will always lean towards the
