Identity theft is not new; it has been around for a life-time. One is amazed to discover that the first case of identity theft was in the bible when Jacob tricked his father into thinking he was the first born, Esau, in order to inherit the land. It is detailed in the book of Genesis, Chapter 25, how Jacob covered himself in goat skin, deceived his father, and took his brother’s inheritance. The 24th Amendment led to the next reason why identities were stolen. The Amendment increased the desire for individuals to obtain fake identifications. This article provided way for student on campus protection from identity theft. The BBB noted that some students are on their own for the first time once they attend college. They should be educated on a few items that can assist in protecting their identity. Students should use their parent’s address, permanent address, for sensitive mail and never share their credit or bank cards. Student can research website on the BBB site before shopping on line, especially if it is an unknown site. Lastly, students should keep their computer security software up-to-date. A student could ruin future employment and purchases if their identity is stolen and misused to purchase large dollar
