Professional Identity Reflection
Professional Identity Development As we all know, professional identity shows our attitudes, beliefs, experiences, and ideal about our career. As a human services student, I started to explore the field before I changed my major to human services and took my first human services class. I believe that my professional identity is developing and changing all the time as time goes by, and it is important for me to develop my professional identity during my academic years and my internship year. I realized that burn out and failed to empathize are so much easier to happen if I did not do self-care on time. During this time, I developed a lot in adjusting my mood, understanding and patient, and learning how to deal with burn out and relax after work.
My Professional Identity As a human service practitioner, I learned how to become empathic, acceptance and maintain cultural competence and sensitivity. Since I am in children’s program, I update children’s meal information to USDA every day, and I will create meal list for clients every week. In addition, I need to document every service we provided to the client to ECM (Electric case management). For my professional identity, I am not only doing such administration work but also directly contacting with clients in various ways. In our shelter, we always receive different kinds of donations, so I always need to go to the donation center and talk with donors. I also need to help clients and their kids to get clothes, medicines, and other supplies they needed. Sometimes clients need transportations to social services department or local court, I will drive them and accompany
