Identity is how oneself create for identification. Authors such as Sherman Alexie and Diane Ackerman wrote about identity and how identity defines in copious approaches. In Sherman Alexie essay, “Superman and Me” he was identity for his race. Sherman Alexie was not afraid to show his wiliness to learn just because of his race. He put aside what others say and forced on his education. In “Hair”, Diane Ackerman wrote about how hair can change a person perspective based on their physical appearance. Diane found the freedom to express hair is show people true colors. Also, it can be a style similar to sixties where long straight hair was well known. Clothing is a way for people to express how they feel. In the late 19th century pin-up dressing was something women began to take part in. Pin-up was women way to show toughest, visibility, fierce, and independent by their clothing. Similar to gothic clothing with black attire, black hair, black fingernail, and black eyeliner. Many of gothic clothing was to protest against the 70s disco era. Musician takes a big role in clothing because it is part of their image. Beyonce image her clothing through sparkly, dazzling, and bold outfits. Miley Cyrus is known for her provocative but yet bold outfits. In some cases musician don’t bold and sparkly outfit for their fans. Like in Lady Gaga case she wore a meat dress to an music award show to show her support for the animal rights group. In movies, costumes is important for the movies overall look. The costumes helps to convey mood and tone for the character. For example, Indiana Jones was known for his leather jacket and Fedora hat or in the Matrix, Neo is black trench coat, black boots and black shades. From musician and movies in to everyday life fashion is big part. Every time or moment a person step out of their house they always have a though about their outfit.
