Identity is the concept of how an individual is perceived socially or culturally. Negativity can impact one’s identity through influences and experiences. Peter Goldsworthy’s Maestro as well as Stephen Chbosky’s Perks of being a Wallflower both indicate how negativity impacts the characters’ sense of identity through negative experiences. This idea has been demonstrated through two characters such as Keller and Charlie.
