Ifemelu’s is a Nigerian woman that moves to the USA to start a new life. Through the years she decides to move back to Nigeria. In the book Adichie shows to us the difficulty in be an immigrant and a black Nigerian woman in America. She tells us the process of self identity by the Americanization, racism, race, gender and love.

On the book Ifemelu has a struggle with herself identity. Through the book analysis, we will see some things that happen with her. These things made her confused with herself.

Even though Blaine is a good man she can connect with him, she feels like something is missing. Her relationship with Obinze is full of passion and they understand each other. He is the key point to Ifemelu’s find herself. Even when she gets depressed and get away from him reject his calls she still thinking in him, all over the thirteen years Obinze helped her become a strong woman. After years of bad and good experiences she decides to come back to her home and for Ifemulu, Obinze is like her home.
- Writing Write is the scape valvule of Ifemelu and through the book we can see that her blog plays an important role in the story. It’s a place where she can talk about her experience about gender issues and race. She can also connect with people that sympathize with her situation. She starts understands her place in society and change her identity. She changes the way she sees the world. When she faces a situation that affects hear as a black, a woman or an immigrant she use her blog to reflect the factors that led this happens. As a black woman she felt the pressure to adapt to a new culture in order to be accepted. In the end she closes her blog because she realizes that she lost herself through the writing

Conclusion Ifemelu’s over change and molded herself by her experiences in American culture and her romantic relationship this help her grow up as a strong and independent woman. On the journey to find her identity, she becomes a hybrid between the American culture and the Nigerian culture that help her become who she are. This fact stays her away from both cultures. She’s not American but she’s not connecting with a lot of traditions and customs of Nigeria. That’s why she’s now a “Americanah” an African that adopts the characteristics of the American
