“Dead Poets Society” has many scenes throughout the movie that show how the students are struggling to find their identity. The students are controlled by their parents, whom already have a vision of what the students will do in the future. This is true in the case of Neil. Neil is struggling between what he wants to do and what his father has planned for him. This is best demonstrated through the poem “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost. The poem has significance to Neil’s struggle to find himself, because he has the path his father wants him to take and the path he wants. The lines “And be one traveler, long I stood; And looked down one as far as I could; To where it bent in the undergrowth” in the poem means that the person looked down
