When I was in Turkey I didn’t know much about Canada 's culture or history. The only thing I knew was that they speak English, multicultural society, and it’s a big country with lots of freedom. These were some general information I knew about Canada I didn’t know much about their history. My connection / relationship started when I started attending Canadian schools. I lived in Toronto until grade 9, and in Toronto the subject social studies is divided into two separate subject areas they are geography and history. Because I only attended school for three years in Turkey I haven 't had the chance to learn history of the world. I think I was first introduced to the history of the indigenous people when I was in grade 6. During that time we have discussed about the origin of the Aboriginal peoples like migration and settlement. Also relationship between Aboriginal peoples and their environment with respect to food, shelter, and cultural practices. And throughout my education I did have some connection to their history as I was introduced to it more and more it gave me a clear understanding of their history. But to be honest this class Edu 211 is probably the first class for beginning of my relationship with the aboriginal people. Because this class is extensive in Aboriginal peoples histories rather than just talking in small section of the course. This class helps me develop knowledge about the history, educational experiences and knowledge system of the aboriginal peoples. This will help me benefit as a teacher as I gain more knowledge about the aboriginal peoples. I believe this class is going to advantage me as a future teacher because when I learn and gain knowledge about the history
