Identifying the Similarities of Group Therapy in a Romantic Comedy Thanks for Sharing is a romantic comedy that deals with real life issues. It encompasses many of the elements that will present themselves during group therapy. In fact, the movie addresses relationships among group members, group leaders, mentors, sponsors and their role in assisting each other refrain from inappropriate behavior. It ties into the concept, each one teach one and the energy it requires to be accountable along with getting through to an individual. How do leaders and members carry out this task? Simply by being there for one another in their time of need. Importantly to be there for an individual, requires courage, a willingness to model, acceptable behavior, openness, genuineness, caring and above all belief in the process. People have to be willing to share their progress and down falls by being trusting, open and honest. It was apparent that members, chosen to participate in the group were selected strategically by the leader. This group consisted of strong individuals with addictions as well as individuals with low self-esteem, professionals, doctors, businessmen, females, cosmetologist, older and younger members and people from different races participated in the session. First off, call your mentor, sponsor, or leader make contact with someone they are willing to help you. Leaders will use the right techniques to assure you that nothing will change after the unwanted behavior has taken place. Also, the movie did a good job with regard to making members acknowledge their triggers, so once you know what sets you off try to avoid traveling that
