When we came to America, my father couldn’t find another job, and my mother started working for Duke University Hospital. To this date, she continues to work their today, and my father is still looking for a job. This is because of the education and area where each of my parents grew up in. Education in my father’s birthplace wasn’t good, while education in my mother’s birthplace was good. My mother went to college while my father didn’t because of this. If my family hadn’t moved to America, my father wouldn’t have lost his job in India. I have been designing for 5 years and developed this skill continuously and have gotten many opportunities to work. The designs I make relate to sports design, so the work I get assigned to do are mostly for college athletes. As a sports and arts fan, this has been an experience. I also, like I stated before, work at Harris Teeter and that is so that I can get a feel for an actual workplace so I can better ready myself for the future. In the future I plan to pick up mechanical or aeronautical engineering, or design for a sports franchise. My family comes from a rather traditional Indian family, where arranged marriages aren’t uncommon.
