1. Identify the community problem/goal to be addressed and what needs to be done. Due to the surveyed community’s physical and social-economic characteristics, the Health People 2020 goal to ‘Improve health, fitness, and quality of life through daily physical activity’ was identified. The availability of sidewalks is impeded due to automobiles up on / blocking the sidewalks and lack of availability of walking trails, bike lanes, parks and physical-recreation center.

Inhabitants of specified community are directly affected by the issue. The consequences for those directly affected as well as the broader community are positive as the city funding the construction of a recreational center creates revenue for the contracting companies, provides another park for all members of the community with the ability to access it, and contributes to the goals of Healthy People 2020 being met. The issue impacts those affected because without access to a vehicle or other means of transportation they are unable to safely exercise or get physical activity necessary for prevention of obesity, social isolation potential, and disease such as diabetes. In some situations people will avoid going to parks and community centers based on reputation for substance abuse, gangs, or undesirable populations being present, therefore; they do not get the necessary amount of exercise or activity otherwise. A recreational center that is monitored, either by cameras or by law enforcement patrol, provides a feeling of safety that promotes people wanting to go and even to bring family for family activities or large functions. Behavior contributes to the problem because regardless of the lack of access the people within the community choose not to find alternative ways of getting physical activity. Increasing the availability to more events for physical activity. Enhancing the community by adding a recreational center that is in close range for those who don’t transportation. Putting in the recreational center in close range will help motivate the people in the neighborhood to walk, jog, etc. It will also have a positive impact on the residents in the neighborhood and safety because they will have a place to go to instead of playing in the streets. Having the Hobbs express to go through the neighborhood to help transport people who don’t have
