A necklace is a piece of jewelry that is worn around the neck. It is usually worn mainly for the purpose of adornment. Necklaces are worn all around the world and they are worn by women as well as men. Women’s necklaces are usually classified by two types: by length and by adornment type. By length, necklaces come in different types. A choker, just as the name implies, sits high on the neck; a princess necklace is longer than a choker by just a few centimeters; a matinee necklace is long and is usually a single strand that rests at the top of the cleavage; the opera necklace is very long, longer that the matinee necklace and stops at the breastbone; the rope necklace is usually any long necklace which is longer than 90 centimeters while the lariat necklace is a really long rope-like necklace which comes without a clasp, so it can be worn over the head. The lariat necklace can be worn draped multiple times around the neck or it can be knotted in several ways after being worn. …show more content…
