Bougie, it’s a word that my brother has called me multiple times and I was never a hundred percent sure what he was really calling me. In an attempt to contradict him I looked up the meaning of the word, and sadly I couldn’t contradict him a bit. The word bougie is stolen from the French word bourgeois, which means -according to Webster's dictionary- marked by a concern for material interests and respectability and a tendency toward mediocrity. In America, the slang word bougie translates to being pretenouise in certain areas and with certain things in your life. For me, I found out that I am bougie when it comes to coffee, body sprays, colored pencils and sketchbooks. I'm a little bougie when it comes to sketchbooks because I love to use Moleskine.
