I believe I would make and excellent fraternity ambassador because I have gone through recruitment twice now. The first time it didn’t work out after I took a bid but the second go around I new what I really wanted out of a fraternity. With this experience and having gone through everything twice I have a better understanding and know what to look for. This would help in recruiting new members and helping them to find their future…
I believe that the motto “Once a Falcon, Always a Falcon,” is a perfect motto to describe myself as both a person and student. Growing up, I always took pride of my hometown (Vermilion, Ohio). My hometown, paired with the rollercoaster of experiences I endured throughout middle school and high school, made me who I am today. Granted, there were hard times and struggles, but I would not be where I am today had I not grown from those experiences. As I stated in my application, I represented my school and hometown at the 2013 Buckeye Boys Convention.…
One honor that stuck out to me was how I was selected by my peers to take on a leadership role. I greatly appreciated this, since I am loyal and passionate about music. This shows that not only my friends, but also others had trusted in me to be the leader. Because of this, I have had much experience with leadership, especially in the band.…
Informatics- Guest Speaker (Journal) During the guest speaker, I truly enjoyed to learn about all of the advance technology that certain hospitals have available. The most important thing about this technology is that we can manage and communicate within health professionals to improve the health of individuals, populations and communities. Does BCMA improve client safety?…
Introduction MDMA. A substance synonymous with rave culture and drug trafficking, but now has a new potential use, as a treatment option for PTSD. This condition, which is caused by one experiencing a traumatizing experience, is faced at one point in life by up to 14 percent (1) of the US population. Although MDMA has been identified to assist psychotherapists involved in PTSD treatment, it remains a controlled substance in the US. Clinical studies were approved by the DEA and FDA last year, but only few studies are approved each year .…
Becoming a Drum Major has been in my mind since the very beginning of the marching band season. At first, I believed that being a Drum Major simply meant a leadership position in the band, with some responsibilities and much admiration. However, as the season progressed, I recognized the way the Drum Majors act and influence others throughout the season to do well. I saw that they inspired many people to do their best, and that was when I realized that being a Drum Major was more than the responsibilities, the position is about inspiring peers and true leadership, and I want to be a part of it.…
During my time at St.Dominic, I have been a part of numerous activities such as Cheerleading, Student Council Class Cabinet, Ambassadors Club, FBLA, and Glamour Gals. I feel some of my bigger accomplishments are from participating in Future Business Leaders of America(FBLA) and Cheer. In my first year of joining FBLA, I ranked fourth in the distract for my division and was asked back to compete in state. Joining these organizations was important to me because it was a great way for me to get involved in my school and prepare for my future. Cheer however stands out in my mind as the activity that greatly impacts me because it has taught me the meaning of teamwork and perseverance.…
I hope to help more students be open to the countless opportunities that the SMU black student body has to offer. As a black student at SMU everything we do is a reflection of the black community as a whole. I say this because many of our counterparts have had very little interaction with black people or have a skewed perception of us as a whole. If appointed I would use this platform to help foster relations between the majority student body of SMU and the black community. I would actively participate in events around campus in order to show that we are present and energetic.…
This year I would enjoy the opportunity to attend the Washington Leadership Conference as it can offer me to the ability to experience leadership qualities to apply to my future goals. I have found that I have a great passion with helping others achieve their goals and aspirations. I believe, that with the right direction and leadership of others, I can make a great impact on anyone I mentor in the future. In the past, I have gone to a few FFA Leadership conferences. They all helped me see what a true leader should be.…
I was born and raised in Michigan. I grew up in an area known as Downriver, where I still reside today. My high school and the barn where I work/volunteer are both within 3 miles of my home, which is why moving to Michigan State University in East Lansing to join the other 50,000 undergraduate students was such a substantial change. I’ve always been adaptable and driven to succeed, so the adjustment to life in East Lansing was not a difficult one for me. Since I’ve been enrolled as a student at Michigan State University, I was granted the extraordinary opportunity to work at the Michigan State University Horse Teaching & Research Center while also being involved in both the Stock Seat Equestrian Team and the Horse Judging Team where I’ve been extremely successful.…
To be part of the SMHS Dance Team would be a great honor because it can help me get involved with the school whilst further improving my skills as a dancer. If I was chosen to be a part of the team, I would be able to enhance my social skills and maintain a healthy lifestyle, while improving the overall strength of the team. I am perfect for the San Marcos Dance Team because I am a fast learner and a team player. During dance, I will always pay attention and try my hardest. I will constantly collaborate well with my team members to achieve overall success.…
WOW! What a power movie! In 2006, I was asked by Dr. Thomas F. Freeman, Head Coach of Texas Southern University’s debate team to assist (along with two other colleagues) with coordinating three (3) days of workshop for the Great Debaters, main cast members. I was given this opportunity because I was a former collegiate debater champion and an assistant coach of the TSU’s debate team.…
My generation and I are the future of America. Thus, it is up to the bold, the driven, and the intellectual to stand up as a leader. A leader is one who acts in the best interest of their community gracefully and efficiently. I aspire to attend American Legion Girls State of Virginia due to the reasons that it will better inform me on how my government works, teach me the ways in which I can best be an active citizen, and allow me to develop as a leader.…
California dreaming can be so much better than California living; at least that’s what I feel sometimes after taking my gap year. This statement I believe is not only applicable to my gap year, but also my experience as a whole. Acknowledging the great presence of collegen in my face and the silky blonde undyed locks on my head, I realize that I have not gone through an immense amount of “life”, but I still know that my experience on this Earth has taught me a couple of things that make me the exceptional person I am. There are a couple of key oppurtunites and hardships that seem to way the heaviest on my being and memory, the death of my beloved grandmother and the so called “gap-year” I’m currently taking on, that have shaped me into a fit student for UT…
When I was a young girl, sports never came naturally to me. I was the girl picked last for sports and I was constantly made fun of by my peers for my lack of athletic prowess. Although there was one sport that made feel happy, confident, and empowered all at the same time. That sport was called Field Hockey. I always worked hard and set goals for myself to help my constantly improve.…
