The creation of ice skates

Ice skates as we know them have changed in many ways since they were first invented thousands of years ago. Ice skates are used for activities such as sports, recreation, and even transportation. The creation of ice skates and all the changes through states have helped athletes like skaters, speed skaters and performance of hockey players and recreational skating did more feasible.

Earliest known pair
Ice skates were invented in Northern Europe in Scandinavia, Germany and the Netherlands. Some date back to as early as 1000 BC Unlike the shoes today, the first ice skates had a knife made from animal bones that were tied to shoes with leather straps. These ice skates were believed to be used for hunting and transportation.
