In the experiment I conducted we were trying to figure out in what types of solution would the gummy bears expand the most. The hypothesis I came up with is if the gummy bear is in different liquids then it will get bigger in size. Two trials were tested because the first time we did all the gummy bears dissolved and we were lead to believe the we left them in the liquids too long. They made the liquids almost feel like jell-o texture and we don't know if they expanded before they or not because they were completely dissolved when we checked back on them.…

What are the implications for a person making an ice sculpture from a 400 pound block of ice? This one is rather hard; therefore, I had to do some research and learned that a person will have to know a lot about the surrounding temperature as this will play a part in how long the sculpture will last. More importantly, the thicker the structure of an ice block the greater chance you have of it not breaking or melting too fast. https://www.iceicemaybe.com/how-long-does-an-ice-sculpture-last/ What do you think that this means for crystallizations in general (since ice is crystallized water)?…

    The Hot Ice Experiment

The theoretical concepts that underlie the Hot Ice experiment involve a supercooled, supersaturated aqueous solution becoming a solid. When a liquid is cooled beyond its freezing point but remains liquid is known as supercooling or undercooling, and being supersaturated occurs when the solutes in a solution exceed the saturation point. The sodium acetate in a supercooled state will rapidly change into a solid with the addition of physical energy or a nucleation site. During the transformation of the liquid supercooled solution into solid crystalline formation produces heat in an exothermic reaction, hence the name hot ice.…
