Ice Breaker For College Students

Ice Breaker Assignment

My idea for an ice breaker for college students would be to have everyone break off into groups containing three people (each person would be assigned a number 1-3 and would join a group according to that number).

The facilitator will speak to the groups before they begin, so that they are aware of the rules for the activity. The first task of each group is to introduce themselves to one another. Once they have done this, they should find 2 things that everyone in that group has in common (such as favorite holiday or movie genre but not including categories that are more “obvious” like hair color, eye color etc.). They will also find one thing that none of them have in common.

After giving the groups five minutes

Co-facilitated session plan For the purpose of this assignment, I propose to approach the hypothetical planning of a co-facilitated session with another party in three stages; pre-session, during the session and post- session. Pre-session I would consider the pre-session planning of a co-facilitated session with another party to be an imperative part of the process. As we would both need to work collaboratively throughout the process to help the group achieve goals, the main objective would be for us to meet well in advance of the meeting in order to get to know each other and establish a trusting and respectful relationship, whereby we would welcome constructive feedback and have the ability to work through any differences which may arise.…

Manifestaciones (Manifestations) Manifestaciones or short for Mani is a leadership retreat hosted by the Center for Latino Arts and Culture (CLAC) located on College Avenue. Although it is expected that this retreat is only for Latinos since it is hosted by the CLAC, anyone from any race can go because although the retreat is Latino-oriented it is not Latino exclusive. There is an application that every potential participant must fill out and the participants are chosen based on their responses on the application. Because of limited space, not everyone is allowed to go but I was fortunate enough to be chosen as one of the participants.…

My observation took place at Gateway Community College Central City Campus as a part of my job as a student services specialist at the front desk counter. I was observing students between 9 A.M. and 12P.M. on a Monday morning, September 12, 2016. I was able to observe about 15 current and prospective students. The college is located in Central City area neighborhood on Buckeye and 12 street, and most of the students at this campus are considered to be “at-risk” students. The student population of Gateway is very diverse, but they have a lot of similarities as well.…

Speaking on my experience at Sheppard Pratt as I stated before, working on an adolescent unit can be very trying on your emotions and patience. From this experience I believe I have become fully aware of my emotions and feelings. If there were ever a time I felt myself or I saw a coworker becoming irrationally emotional while working, we would offer to take a break or walk around the building and cover that coworker’s task for the time. I feel is important for a leader to know their limits and know when they need to let someone else handle the situation at hand.…

The process consisted of choosing a peer-reviewed article related to trauma-informed practice, then creating a Facilitation Plan around the article and relevant course theory, and finally facilitating a group discussion. As the next step towards the development of our group facilitation skills, we were assigned to write a critical reflection about the experience of facilitating a group discussion. Through this paper I provided a summary of our group facilitation experience, explored group dynamics, what I perceived as our strengths and challenges, what I have learned from…
