Threats and attacks from terrorist groups have caused citizens from many nations to live in fear from what's coming next. Over the past few years the United States have been receiving threats from a militant group in the Middle East called ISIS. The group named ISIS stands for “ Islamic state of Iraq and Syria.” Citizens in the United States are scared and don’t understand why our country isn’t doing anything about it. The United States military should act more aggressively to stop the ongoing threats and attacks from ISIS because they’re growing in population and strength, and they are well funded. Over the years of us not doing anything about ISIS they are growing in population. It is estimated that ISIS has around thirty thousand members.
There was a video leaked on Social media that showed kid’s being trained by ISIS members. “ By itself, Iraq’s military is at present unable to turn the tide against ISIS,” (Auerbach,2). ISIS is strong enough to take over cities in Iraq, and Iraq isn’t strong enough to fight back. The more land that ISIS takes over the more people that could possibly be recruited which could ultimately hurt us at the end. Since ISIS is constantly growing the US needs to step in and try to stop them.
Another reason for the US to step up its involvement is that ISIS is an organization that is well funded. ISIS controls a lot of oil fields in the middle east which is one of the main reasons they make most of their money. “According to an unnamed US officer, ISIS continues to amass cash, weapons, and even support from the Muslim community,”(Auerbach, 2). The money that ISIS is earning is being put towards bad use. The US should understand that the bad use of ISIS’s money will be going towards plotting attacks to hurt other countries, which isn’t acceptable and should be stopped
