ISIS first started when the US government first killed Saddam Hussein in an air strike. The US destroyed the government in Iraq, but also destroyed Infrastructure. So basically it was US fault that ISIS was formed. There were lots of people who lived under the rule of Saddam Hussein so they may not have been so happy when their ruler died. Also the people in Iraq were living normal lives and when Saddam Hussein was ruling. Since the US destroyed Iraq, it was easy for ISIS to take over. ISIS however was a very small group then. Soon they turned their attention the Syria where there was a civil war. It was the rebel Syrian Army and al- Qaeda versus the army of President Bashar al-Assad. The rebels pleaded for help and the US gave them money,
