It is proper to compare the WW2 Nazi’s to the modern day ISIS terrorists because of their similar reason to eliminate a certain religion because they think it is “inferior” and/or “satanic worshipers”. The Nazi’s were one group that changed history forever with its horrible acts against its own species, that will be remembered for centuries to come, unless something similar happens to that extent in the future. The Nazi group was controlled by one and only one man, Adolf Hitler, whom thought that all Jewish, Homosexual, Mentally Ill and/or had Physical Deformities should be exterminated. Now, the ISIS is a modern day “chip off the ole block” of the now hated Nazi party. It has set its sights on the Yazidis, a religion that is from middle east…

In a small passage from Salman Rushdie's "Staying Put: Making a home in a restless world", Rushdie writes on his perspective when leaving India for England. Although, another supposed writer by the name of Scott Russell Sanders has perceived a different view on mass migrations, much like to what Rushdie was a part of. Russell states, "The creation of radically new types of human being: people who root themselves in ideas rather than places.", as he talks about migrations. America is always seen as a "Promised Land" or land of benefit towards those who come. This is one of the many strategies that Russell uses to connect more with his audience, and Rushdie.…

The world has become a place of utter chaos, a place where you constantly have to look over your shoulder, that is not any way someone should live. The world took a radical turn back in 1933, if the date sounds familiar, it should be. That is the date when the horrific events of the Holocaust began. Thinking back to all of the innocent people that lost their lives and didn’t have a clue what was happening should make a person feel the least bit angry, or wish that people had gotten more involved sooner. All of or most of the survivors (while it was still going on) tried to warn people, but people wouldn’t listen and they stayed silent about it.…

Is it imaginable that Isis is good for our world? Isis, the next big militant group after Al-Qaeda with the amount of executions performed and brutality toward the civilians in the Middle East. It is true that Isis is terrible due to their actions performed on the innocent people, however the effects of Isis is providing good things for the world today as it allowed for the world to learn how to deal with the militant group and how to prevent from any other major group forming. The reason Isis was formed in the first place is because the U.S. government wanted to replace Assad in Syria by giving weapons to radical Muslim groups fighting Assad.…

“ A genocide begins with the killing of one man - not for what he has done, but because of who he is” (Kofi Annan). Isis is determined to take control of the world, there main target being the western culture, including their civilization and religious beliefs. Depending on the extremity of the attacks and killings, they are either classified as a genocide if they are more extreme, or questioned if they are not as major. The more extreme attacks and killings, can be proved in many ways as an act of genocide, where other acts are still being questioned. Isis is thought by many as a threat of genocide as other’s think it is just an act of terror.…

In the articles “Three Cheers for the Nanny State,” “Ban the Ban!,” and “Soda’s a Problem but…”, all three authors present their arguments with facts, opinions, and counterclaims. However, one article presents itself better than the rest. I believe that the article “Soda’s a Problem, but...” was the most convincing article. Sarah Conly- the author who wrote “Three Cheers for the Nanny State”- argues that the soda restriction is a good idea because people would be stopped from making foolish decisions that they’ll pretty definitely regret.…

This same mentality as I mentioned in another response can still be seen today with how Al-Qaeda can use suicide bombers and these people will gladly give their lives if there is a chance to advance their cause. Also if you have never seen the movie I highly recommend it I saw it when it came out and thought it was good enough that I own the DVD.…

Millions of people have died to the gruesome executions by the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant since 1999, isn’t it time to stop their reign of terror? There has been a perpetual argument since 2003 about whether the United States congress should dispatch thousands of American combat troops to stop these muslim extremists. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steal of American resolve” (Aaron Y. Zelin). Al Qaeda has tested our nation’s patriotism in many of ways by testing the faith of not only the American people but people across this world. “While the war on terrorism has cost the US some 1 trillion al Qaeda remains a global threat. In fact, in August 2008, Ted Gistard the US government’s senior terrorism analyst said in a report that by forging closer ties to Pakistani militants, al Qaeda is more capable of launching an attack in the US than it was in 2007. The Pakistani militants have given al Qaeda leaders a safe haven in remote areas to train recruits” (Laura Hayes, Borgna Brunner, and Beth Rowen).…

“The real truth behind Afghanistan” Spotted hyenas are scavengers that possess great intelligence and the ability to hunt is unfortunately very monstrous. The strategy of these hardy beasts’ hunters to skillfully pick off a weaker member and chase the rest away is their real game to attack and keep dominance. Hyenas are species that are viewed as the most dangerous and that only show up when their prey is in distress. Hyenas is a resemblance of the U.S fragmented government today. Just like hyenas hunt for its prey and take down wildebeest and are mostly viewed with fear and contempt-the U.S government is also viewed with fear and contempt to the third world countries.…

Hungry for Change Why is it that law mandates public school meals have a minimum calorie intake, but not a maximum?
