The IS4H Maturity Model is a progressive array of diverse technical requirements that operationalize the 30 aspects included in the four objectives of the IS4H strategic framework. Accordingly, ranking at each maturity level implies that information systems for health complete all the corresponding requirements. The five maturity levels are the next:

The process of assessment uses the plan-do-understand-act (PDUA) cycle from quality management to define the IS4H Maturity Model Life Cycle with the next steps (Figure 6):
