I fall back on my 23 years in IT, especially the senior network administrator side. My reasoning is the reality of the mentality that everyone is your customer which is required to be successful. Literally every individual in your company, even your boss, is a customer. The reason is they all use the network. It took me sometime to come to that understanding. I had this belief prior to acquiring my degree. The business degree cemented this belief in the structure of life for IT departments. Something I recently did was a non IT job. It was an outbound cold call sales company. What ever word you say is recorded and reviewed for feedback change is eminent. That experience helped my customer centric thought processes more than I believed possible. Also, vocal intonation signaling of customers feelings toward the subject matter is an ability increased during this experience. I thought I already knew.
