Study of the nursing records of ICU patients revealed that only 6% of the 147 nights included 2-3 hours of uninterrupted sleep. It means that few patients had the opportunity for the complete sleep cycles. However, some activities may be scheduled according to routine and ritualistic practice in order to improve sleep conditions of patients (Redeker and McEnany, 2011).
