The Indian Council for research on International Economic Relations(ICRIER) is one of India’s leading think tanks. It was established in August 1981. The main aim of the organisation is to enhance the knowledge content for policy making and facilitating India’s effective engagement with the global economy.

there will have to be a constant endeavour to generate more employment opportunities and reduce inequalities across the board and this is where ICRIER’s work becomes useful in giving tools to the policy makers to achieve these challenges. By 2025, India will be the most populous country in the world. Immense urbanisation would have taken place and food, energy requirements will increase commensurately. To achieve the objective of creating productive employment for these projected millions, ICRIER has launched a major initiative as part of the “net work of jobs and development” initiative of the world bank. This project will go hand in hand with another study with the ADB that looks at short listing limitations in the domestic investment environment.
The special economic zones study of ICRIER for the Ministry of Commerce, GOI seeks to look at how these zones will impact employment.
