Narrative Essay On Being A Clown

“Ugh,” I say to myself as I try to get up. Sitting on the edge of my bed, I look frantically for my phone.
I thought I left it on the charger before I went to bed.
Tossing everything out of the way, I yell, “Hey, Jane can you call my phone.”
“You left your phone in the kitchen,” she responds.
Walking towards the kitchen, I remember what day it was and the walking quickly turns into sprinting.
“What time is it?” I say, trying to catch my breath and reaching for my phone.
Great. It’s at 32 percent.
“10:45, why?” she says.
“I’m working a birthday party today and if I don’t hurry, I’ll be late.”
“Are you ever going to stop being a clown, Mario?”
“Yeah, whatever. It pays the bills,” I say as I walk away to get ready.
Walking into my room, I immediately

As enthusiastic a clown has to be. I raise my hands and the children begin to cheer. Trick after trick, balloon animal after balloon animal, the children continue to cheer. Halfway through my act, I start feeling a sense of desertion. The kids weren’t even paying attention anymore. I still went on with my act. I turn around to see what the kids were admiring so much.
A bouncy castle. Really?
I noticed one child really paying attention. One child, a little girl wearing a dark dress staring intensely. Realizing I actually still had an audience, I kept going. Pulling handkerchiefs out of my sleeve, making flowers appear, and juggling various objects. No one else noticed me except for that girl. She was smiling widely now and clapped and giggled after every trick.
Now that my act was over, the children were released to go to the bouncy castle. Of course that’s when the children all looked excited. I looked to the crowd, trying to get one last glimpse at my only fan, but her attention had turned to the bouncy castle. Now I can get out of

I remembered that I was still wearing my costume and the big shoes were a big help.
This is the only time I’m grateful I’m in this costume. She was quick to stand up and run my way. I stood up and ran back to into the nice house. Knocking as loud as I could, it felt like an eternity waiting for it to open. As it opened, the nice looking lady wasn’t so nice looking anymore. She was morphing right in front of me like the girl did. I ran the opposite way back to my car reaching for my bag, feeling around for the keys. I looked back as I was unlocking the door and it seemed like the nice lady and all the little kids were running towards me. A wave of fear passes through my body when I hear the keys hit the floor.
Am I in a horror movie? Why is this happening now?!
Halfway through picking up the keys, I see that the door is unlocked and I feel stupidity and relieved simultaneously. I opened the door and put the keys into the ignition and stepped on the accelerator. I can hear the wind screaming at me as I speed through the neighborhood. Looking in my rear view mirror, I saw that they stopped chasing after me. Caught in a moment of relief, I took off my shoes and tossed them in the backseat and drove
