Which degree should I pursue to land this imaginative, engineering position that I so desire? I feel a Bachelor of Arts degree or even attending an art school may be beneficial, but are either necessary? I’ve seen storyboards for movies over the years and the artistic skill needed seems minimal. On the contrary, theme park concept art is very detailed. Did these images pour out of one person’s mind and onto paper, or does it pass through many hands to develop into its full potential? Are there thinkers and then artists that work together to materialize these works? Do I need to be capable of both? I believe it’s safe to assume engineering would play a major role in my career. Maybe it isn’t, Maybe that’s an entirely different department. I should establish which department I want to work in specifically! How many different departments are there in the wonderful world of Disney Imagineering? I wonder if there are certain universities Disney favors, or maybe ones that offer specific courses for hopeful Imagineers. I’ve heard of the Disney College Program, I’m unsure of whether or not I could sign up for that. Do they offer internships for Imagineers, and if so, do they pay? I know I can’t finish school and jump straight into the position of my dreams, so where can I start that would give me some similar hands-on experience? Would set design in the theater give me a good indication of the work I’d be doing? Could I benefit from even designing things such as containment areas at zoos, or themed playgrounds in malls or parks? Are there other tools I should familiarize myself with, like digital arts? I’m already a people person, so I need no tuning in that area. Although, at times, I am very timid. I assume I would need to overcome that bashful nature in order to work in a team setting. I also find myself wondering how competitive this field is. Do the other Imagineers enjoy working together or are ideas
